Cast Radix by Hanayama – How To Solve It

Hanayama Cast Radix is tough puzzle. But I didn’t expect it to be THIS tough! The goal is to disassemble 3 pieces. But it’s not fully solved until you put them back together…

Cast Radix took me much longer than expected. For a level 4 out of 6 Hanayama, it really caught me off guard!

My Solution of the Cast Radix

Cast Radix

Cast Radix is a metal puzzle in shape of a baroque-style sculpture. The 3 pieces are interlocked, and your goal is to take them apart, and then put them back together. Due the unnatural shape of the parts, I found the puzzle more confusing than a usual solver would! These 3 pieces are interwoven in a complicated way that is really hard to keep track of!

For a level 4 Hanayama, Cast Radix was REALLY Hard. I’m sure it took me much longer than it should’ve! The pieces, as always with Hanayama, are of great build quality and finish, they make nice clunk noises when they hit one another (which happens… all the time!) and are quite challenging to learn and understand.

Compared to other Level 4 (like Cast Keyhole for example), It’s much more fiddly and has less moves, but the moves are quite tricky to find.

Cast Radix Solution

So how to solve the Cast Radix? A hint I can give you is to learn the pieces and try to do every move slowly. The 2 large pieces look similar, but they’re different.
